Do you want your child to have a top-notch smile? If so, you have come to the right blog! Our dentist, Dr. Evan Wheeler, has some tips that can help you clean and care for your child’s teeth and gums, no matter their age. Those tips are:

First, start brushing your child’s teeth when their first tooth grows into place. As you brush, use a child-sized toothbrush that has soft bristles. Also, use toothpaste that doesn’t have fluoride and is safe to swallow. If you don’t have access to this toothpaste, just use water.

Second, after your child turns two years old, start using fluoride toothpaste. Your child’s little chompers should be able to handle the fluoride at this age and your child will not likely swallow the paste when brushing.

Third, let your child watch you and your other family members brush your teeth. This will help them learn how to properly care for their smile. It will also help them understand that oral hygiene is important for everyone.

If you have any questions or if you would like to know more about how to care for your child’s smile in Fairbanks, Alaska, please contact Evan L. Wheeler, DDS, PC at 907-479-8123 today. Our dental team will be thrilled to help you.
